ENGLAND
The host nation, England, has been a part of all the World Cup tournaments since its inception. It has hosted four such tournaments before this one. England is at the top of ODI rankings at this point of time.
In 11 previous tournaments, they have managed to reach the Semi-Final stage five times and have reached the Finals three times out of those. They haven't been able to win the tournament yet. This will be their best chance to claim the trophy as they have the home advantage as well as the top rank in ODIs.
In 72 World Cup matches, they have won 41 matches, lost 29, tied 1 and one match ended in no-result. They have lost against minnows Ireland and Bangladesh in 2011 and 2015. Also, they have remained unbeaten against Afghanistan.
In 302 home games, they have won 177, lost 112, tied 4 and 15 matches have ended in no-result. Their highest ODI total of 444 came at home itself.
England start their World Cup 2019 campaign against South Africa on 30 May 2019 at The Oval.
